A solo crisis-management space roguelike on your table. FSL: Fleet Signal Lost is a Print & Play / Roll & Write game heavily inspired by the tense survival mechanics of FTL: Faster Than Light and the desperate, isolated journey of Star Trek: Voyager.
You are the captain of a lone, heavily damaged starship fleeing through hostile sectors. Your resources are decaying, your systems are failing, and an unforgiving galaxy stands between you and the remaining fleet. Can you manage the crisis, protect your hull, and make it out alive before your signal is lost forever?
๐ก๏ธ Core Mechanics & Key Features
- Grid-Based Ship Management: Your ship sheet is a tactical blueprint. Draw and expand custom compartments directly onto your grid. Balance your power management carefully - weapons, shields, and life support strictly require Energy to function.
- Tactical Architecture ("Dead Zones"): Space geometry matters. You cannot build modules in the weapon paths (in front of guns) or directly behind your main engines. Restricted zones will challenge your layout planning with every expansion.
- Brutal Damage Penetration Vectors: Shields are your first line of defense, but they aren't invincible. When enemy strikes punch through, damage penetrates your hull in straight lines, instantly destroying fragile modules and creating cascading system failures.
- Sector Exploration & Quests: Navigating through star systems is a high-stakes risk-vs-reward puzzle. Spend action dice to explore unique sector objects, trigger randomized events, and complete crisis quests to scavenge vital Fuel and Oxygen before you suffocate in the black.
๐ฆ Whatโs Inside the Free Playtest Kit?
The current alpha build contains a complete, autonomous introductory experience:
- ๐ Quick Rules & Turn Reference: A streamlined guide to get you playing in 10 minutes.
- ๐ Core Ship Sheet: Your command center grid for module layouts, energy tracking, and hull breach management.
- ๐ 4-Map Intro Campaign: Four unique star system maps featuring escalating difficulty curves and dynamic enemy swarms.
To Play, You Just Need: A standard home printer (black & white is perfect), a pencil, and a handful of standard six-sided dice (d6).
๐น๏ธ Current Status & Alpha Balance
This game is an active indie side-project. While the core loop is fully operational, I am heavily focusing on polishing layout, rule clarity, and mathematical balance.
A quick tip for your first run: This intro campaign is designed to be accessible but challenging. Expect your ship to take serious damage in every system, and remember - it is completely normal if you don't survive your first attempt! Itโs a roguelike, after all.
